Tour description

Traveling along the historic Ancient Appian Way, the emblematic avenue of the capital where the “Domine quo vadis?” Chapel is located, we will see the famous catacombs of Rome. These underground constructions were used as burial places in the early years of Christianity, when the faithful were persecuted by the imperial authorities.

After visiting the Catacombs of S. Callisto or Santa Domitilla or San Sebastiano, the first refuge of Christians, we will head to the Basilica of San Giovanni in Laterano, towards the nearby Scala Santa, on whose marble steps we will discover why it is one of the main pilgrimage sites in Rome, revered every year by thousands of faithful.

The tour will continue to Santa Maria Maggiore, one of the four largest basilicas in Rome, such as San Giovanni in Laterano. We will discover its vast artistic heritage by observing the decorative apparatus of the ceiling and columns.
