Company Profile
Green Line Tour S.p.A. was founded in 1978 in response to an ever-increasing demand for sightseeing tours and quickly established a reputation for both the quality of service offered and the importance placed in customer care. All employees work hard to ensure that the needs of every single client they deal with are met and GLT has some 60 official, authorised guides and Tour Leaders on it's books as well as a further 67 staff members based in three city centre offices in either an administrative or operational capacity. Over the last three years, the entire fleet of 5 Star Gran Turismo coaches has been renewed in order to guarantee that the quality and safety of all its buses is first class. One of the coaches is a 50 seater Mercedes Intercar that has been set aside for the VIP Naples / Pompeii Tour. What makes it so special is that although it looks like an old fashioned bus, it is in fact fully equipped with all modern comforts and uses state of the art technology to allow passengers to enjoy a virtual tour of the sights they are about to see or visit and learn all about the history, customs and traditions associated with them before actually arriving. The company operates many other tours too, including several within the city of Rome itself both by day and by night, as well as daily excursions to or in Florence, Assisi/Orvieto, Venice, Naples, Capri and Pompeii etc, which along with a vast network of more than 350 contracted hotels and restaurants make Green Line one of Italy's leading sightseeing and incoming tour operators.
Little wonder then that GLT has been awarded the UNI EN ISO 9001 - 2000 Certificate of Quality and the IQNET Certified Management System. The ISO 9002 Certificate of Quality means that the company is operated within quality control parameters that are adopted throughout all aspects of the business to ensure customer satisfaction as set out by the definition of CEquality within the ISO 8402 Standard.
These standards collectively delineate Green Line's own objectives regarding quality and detail the organisational flow and operational measures that have been adopted in order to achieve these goals as set out both in the ISO 9000 Standard and in particular the ISO 9002 Standard as revised in 1994. Green Line Tours S.p.A. is also a member of ASSOTRAVEL, an association for Italian businesses that act as intermediaries in the travel sector and who are members of CONFINDUSTRIA, FEDERTURISMO and FEDERTRASPORTO. Associates are kept up-to-date with market needs and capacity and participation in the various seminars and training courses provides them with the knowledge needed to fully exploit all the latest marketing and management tools available As a member of ASTA (American Society of Travel Agency), the company is able to take part in international conventions, fairs and meetings aimed at motivating and promoting commercial relationships between its some 24,000 strong associates.GREENY BUS
In 1998, Green Line Tours invested in small, 26 seater tram-buses that are powered by an Iveco 80E18 catalytic, eco-friendly diesel engine that meets Euro 2 standards and it the extremely low level of emissions that they generate that has led to them become known as a GREENY BUS.
It is however their appearance that passers-by are first drawn to; their eye-catching design evokes memories of old-fashioned trams and Italians and foreigners alike that find themselves in the city centre for work or as tourists inevitably stop and stare. The Greeny Bus is used mostly on Green Line's Shuttle Tour circuit a hop on / off tour that allows tourists to alight at any of the numerous stops along the route, all conveniently situated close to some of the city's most popular sights, and having visited and explored all that they want in that location, they can simply rejoin the tour and proceed to the next stop that interests them. This type of tour, available in most major European and American cities provides the flexibility that many tourists prefer to travel freely around the city to all the major attractions without having to get to grips with public transport.
During the 8 years that the Greeny Bus has cruised through the streets of Rome's historic city centre it has become so familiar that it is now practically a part of the urban landscape itself and all those who frequent the city centre on a regular basis recognise it straight away.
In 2005, the Greeny Bus carried an average of 240 passengers a day in high season, 100 in low season for a total of around 74,000 passengers in the year.
